Here are FresYes we greatly care about your health and well being. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought such unprecedented changes to our daily routines, it’s understandable that the importance of sleep is flying under the radar. But as we adjust to stay-at-home orders and try to remain healthy, focusing on sleeping well offers tremendous benefits.

Sleep is critical to your physical health and effective functioning of the immune system. It’s also a key promoter of emotional wellness and mental health, helping to beat back stress, depression, and anxiety.

Whether you’ve had sleeping problems before COVID-19 or if they’ve only come on recently, there are concrete steps that you can take to improve your sleep during this time.

  • Stick to a sleep schedule of the same bedtime and wake up time, even on the weekends

  • Avoid napping

  • Exercise daily, but not before bed

  • Design your sleep environment to establish the conditions you need for sleep. Your room should be cool and free from obtrusive noise and lights

  • Avoid bright lights before bed, such as phone and computer screens

  • Avoid alcohol and heavy meals in the evening, as they can disrupt sleep

  • Spend the last hour before bed doing a calming activity such as reading

  • Don't consume caffeine late in the day

  • Take a relaxing bath or shower before bed

  • Try to resolve your worries or concerns before bedtime- Jot down what's on your mind and then set it aside for tomorrow

  • Play light background noise HERE's a FresYes Staffer approved sleep playlist featuring rain sounds
