Hot & Happening

What's Hot & Happening this Weekend?

By FresYes Writing Team

It looks like we’re in for a great weekend with the weather giving us partly cloudy skies with just a chance of rain on Saturday. It’s that quiet time just after the first of the year where it’s just a bit too early for festivals and gatherings. We say that but at the same time it’s anything BUT quite around here! We’ve been quite busy in that thing we do – the real estate department. Quite busy.

Case in point, while we normally feature an open house to go look at near the bottom of this post – this week we don’t have one. WE HAVE THREE!

* and if it wasn’t for a small publishing deadline – we would have had FOUR new listings for you to see!

FRIDAY:

The thing is, you know how much we love movies. The Crest is showing a cult classic from 1982. This movie was released to negative reviews that described it as “instant junk” and “a wretched excess“. However…the film found an audience when released on home video and television and in the years since, it has been reappraised as one of the best science fiction and horror films ever made! Many Filmmakers have noted its influence on their work, and it has been referred to in other media such as television and video games.

Not to give it all away but it tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who encounter the eponymous “Thing”. It is an extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates, then imitates, other organisms. Can you guess the film?

Yes! It is John Carpenter’s, The Thing!

Doors Open at 7 PMMovie starts at 8 PMJust $5 – and bring cash (no cards at the Crest)

PRO TIP: Just like Antartica, it can be a little cold at the Crest this time of year – bring a lap blanket! No Flame Throwers, please.

Still unsure? Watch Stephen Colbert talk to John Carpenter – we promise, it won’t spoil the film.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY:

Like we said in the opening – there really isn’t much going on. Either day would be great to go stop by your favorite Farmer’s Market, take the Fam out to a great breakfast, or if you really have a weird streak in you … Yes, you could go back to The Crest where the featured flick is The NeverEnding Story. As for us, after Stranger Things, we can’t go anywhere near that movie if you know what we mean.

Instead, we’ll recommend you go drop by one of these great Open Houses! Find the one that grabs you and make a point to stop by. When you do you might not only see a great home, you might also get some great designer ideas for your home too! Depending on which home and time you might be lucky enough to meet Melissa, Teresa, Monica, or Ben – some of the hardest working, full time agents in the valley!
