What's Hot & Happening this Weekend?
By FresYes Writing Team

Yes, we know there’s a football game on Sunday, but hey we’re more than that, right? Not that there’s anything wrong in gathering with all your buddies, watching the big game, chips, fresh guac, ice cold beer… not to mention the pregame festivities, all those great commercials, hooting and hollering, the halftime show – Doesn’t that sound great? We’ll be over about noon, ok? ok!
The 35th Annual Blossom Trail Opening Ceremony
We’ve written extensively about the Blossom Trail before. In 2017, Jenna did a great write up for Blossom Trail Beginners that still works today!
The Fresno County Blossom Trail is celebrating 35 years! If you’ve never been, it’s a must see! It doesn’t last long so make a point to see it this year. They are having an opening day ceremony, (wait that’s a baseball term). They are having a Kickoff Ceremony (that’s the right term!) this Friday at 10 a.m. at Reedley College Farm. Here’s a link to the google map: 995 N Reed Ave, Reedley, CA 93654
If you have to work, that’s ok. You can go anytime you like. It’s a 62 mile guided route that you can take at your own pace, and stop and start when you want. Jenna suggested starting at Simonian Farms (2629 S Clovis Ave, Fresno, CA 93725) which seems a perfect place to start.
One thing to be aware of though. Orchards along the Blossom Trail are private property, not open to public access. Visitors can view and photograph the blossoms safely from the shoulder of the road. Make sure all vehicles are pulled completely off of the road.

The FresYes Explorer
For you “Explorers” we’ve got a great suggestion for this weekend.
Mission #1: It’s Friday night. Head on downtown to the Tioga-Sequoia Beer Garden with you favorite Valentine. Fresno Street Eats will have an assortment of fabulous food trucks there as usual but with one fun theme – they are all serving up heart shaped food. Seriously. They’ll be dishing up heart shaped sushi, corndogs, pizza, tacos and so much more.
Order up some Heart Shaped Sushi for the two of you and pair that with your favorite cold one from Tioga. People tend to go with the light and dry style with sushi (i.e. Kirin, Asahi, or Sapporo) and we’ll agree. Start with a Kolsch 104.1. It’s a beer style originating from Cologne, Germany. Kolsch is “warm fermented” with top-fermenting yeast, then conditioned at cold temperatures like a lager. This makes it a crisp and delicate choice that’s a little Ale-ish, a little Lager-ish. If all that’s confusing for you – it’s “totally drinkable!” – trust us!
