Hot & Happening

What's Hot & Happening this Weekend?

By FresYes Writing Team

It’s another hot one for us this weekend. Remember, if you need it, the cooling centers are open. We have a map right HERE. Did you see that just yesterday, Natali posted up 5 great ways for you and the Fam to stay cool? She’s timely that way! Remember that she also put out her annual Where to Swim and Cool Off in Fresno, 2023 Edition.

Surviving temperatures above 100 degrees can be quite the sizzling adventure! You’ve got to be as cool as a cucumber in a sauna and remember to hydrate like a camel on a desert vacation. Embrace your inner popsicle by seeking out shade like a sun-dodging ninja, and when the sun is playing its fiery peekaboo game, whip out that trusty portable fan and channel your inner Beyoncé with some fabulous windblown hair.

If you were following us on Instagram this week we gave away a gift certificate to Rocket Dog Gourmet Brats & Brew in Fresno in honor of International Hot Dog Day. If you didn’t win, that’s ok, we didn’t either.

But that got us to hankering for a really good Hot Dog. Not just some basic dog, but a real gourmet meal, with just the right garnishes. Picture that for a second. Can you see it? Can you taste it?

And what’s sitting right there besides it? An ice cold pint of draft beer. Right?

So this week, we’re sending you to Rocket Dog!

Now we know you might be tempted to go straight for the Bahn Mi Dog. It is their #1 seller and staff fav. Sweet chicken sausage on a grilled baguette with Sriracha mayo, crunchy pickled veggies, fresh jalapeño and cilantro. It looks so good!

But right now, the dog we’re visualizing is the Der Brathundt. It’s a traditional bratwurst on a grilled pretzel roll with brown mustard, crunchy sauerkraut and red onion. Partner that with a strong cold IPA and we’re in heaven!

Of course, for those of us going light on the carbs, they have options. Salads? Yes, but how about a Keto – Farris’ Fiery FresYes Dog? We’re not making that up, it’s on the menu! It’s a Bacon-wrapped hot link on a bed of lettuce with caramelized onions, grilled mushrooms, melted cheddar cheese and sriracha! It’s definitely fork food but doesn’t that sound incredible?

See Eureka!, you could do it! hint, hint!

FRIDAY:

If you saw the news, Dead & Company held their last three nights at Oracle Park in San Francisco this last weekend. The music and the shows were incredible. The lines, the prices, the traffic – not so much. But now that it’s over, there might be a particular void in your life. (there is in ours)

How perfectly timed, that a very good tribute band, “Definitely Dead” is playing tonight at the Tower Theater! They are from Woodlake! Plenty of tickets are available and it’s inexpensive and it’s great music. Void gone? It will be!

And then there’s more to do…
