This weekend is looking to be a warm one with plenty of sunshine. Stay cool, wear your sunblock, stay in the shade and you’ll be just fine! Hey it’s also Father’s Day Weekend and if you haven’t already seen it, we have a $50 gift card to Eureka! up for grabs over on Instagram. Happy Father’s Day to those incredible Dads!

While we could have taken the easy route on this edition of Hot & Happening and just listed all the great BBQ spots in town that would be perfect for Dad, we know he deserves better than that, right? So instead, we’ve found three very different things for you to choose from that he’s probably never done – heck, maybe do all three!

We’re going to challenge you to do something outside the norm with Dad on Father’s Day. Here’s three very different ideas that’ll make the day a certain stand out! Each is also Kid friendly (to a certain extent) so it’s a bonding thing too!

What’s SUP?

Earlier this week we published a great interview with Staci at Golden Light Paddle. She teaches paddle boarding, she teaches yoga, and she teaches yoga while paddle boarding! (How cool is that?). After we published, we added that she has a special Father’s Day Paddle on Sunday and offered our Reader’s $10 off! Do Father’s paddle? You betcha! Do kids like the water? Duh! Everything is provided, you just show up and have FUN!

What’s LARP?

LARP (Live Action Role Playing), also called LARPing, is a character-driven type of gameplay. LARP combines elements of improvisational acting, pervasive gaming, cosplay (costume play) and role-playing games.

Technically this isn’t LARPing, it’s Belegarth which means no spells or fantasy – more about the combat where participants fight with foam padded safety equipment made to reflect medieval weaponry. So grab your little Arya and her Needle and head out to the park! Can’t find your foam covered sword? That’s ok, we’ve heard they’ll have extras for you to borrow.

What’s DEFY?

Defy in Clovis is more than a trampoline park. There is a fabulous trampoline park, but also there’s a Parkour Course, a Zip Line, a Ninja Course, a Stunt Fall, a Trapeeze, Basketball, and so much more!
