Hot & Happening

What's Hot & Happening this Weekend?

By FresYes Writing Team

Yes, rain is coming back this weekend, but look at the bright side. We had a few good days in the sun. Oh well. We need the rain right? Make sure you read Natali’s post on “Five Ways Fresno Homeowners Can Prepare for (More) Heavy Rain“.

Don’t let the gloomy weather get you down! Embrace your inner child and jump into every puddle you see – it’s a guaranteed way to put a smile on your face (and muddy water on your clothes). After that, clean yourself up and let’s go play like a grownup!

The FresYes Explorer

Last week we gave you a little latitude and started you out with a good cup of coffee from wherever you thought was best. Yes we did suggest a few but the choice was up to you. This week we’re going to be very specific. VERY. And the best thing is not only are you going to have fun – you may very well win something!

The Mission:

We’ve fallen in love with Tap & Cellar. They’re this hidden gem of a place serving premier craft beer and wine and a restaurant tucked away in the Pinedale Business Complex just north of Alluvial and Ingram.

On Saturday night, they are going to have a fabulous young guitarist. His name is Ryan Steven. He’ll most likely have his acoustic but he might also have his electric PRS guitar there. You’ll know because it’s yellow and white with birds on the frets.

See, we told you we were going to be specific!

If he doesn’t have his Electric PRS Guitar, you can impress him by asking where the PRS is? If he smiles, collect 10 points! (keep track!)

He’ll probably be playing more on his acoustic. Ask him to play “Neon” by John Mayer. Don’t worry, he knows it! Collect another 10 points for each J.M. song he sings and another 10 for each that you requested.

Next, head up to the bar. Let’s start with a pilsner. Order a Cherish the Day on draft. It’s from Alvarado Street Brewery in Monterey and it’s a gorgeous American lager with delicate malt character, a kiss of hops and exquisitely dry finish that’ll leave you savoring every moment of life. Each Cherish the Day is good for another 10 points.

Pair that with a nice flat bread of your choice from the kitchen, the fine music we have happening, and we’re sure you’ll be Cherishing at least this day!

Now… IF Ryan did bring his PRS and you can coax him into playing another one, it should be “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” and then for head to the bar for a Pliny the Elder – yes, the uncle of Pliny the Younger – the beer that people stand in line for hours to taste.

Pliny is a Double IPA so it’s good for 20 points.

Grab your phone and snap a picture or video. Snap a bunch. Post it to Instagram and

Each picture is worth 10, video is worth 15, plus each tag is an additional 10 points. Tag a friend or two that isn’t there and you score 10 more points per friend.

At the end of the night, you’ve forgotten about the rain, had an excellent time, had some great beer, some great food and swayed to some great music. Total all your points up and send that to [email protected]. We have some great things to give away for the one with the most points, most creative picture, funniest picture and so on.
