GEAR UP for our FTP rides happening in 2 weeks
November 18th - 22nd, you’ll have multiple chances to take part in the SPYN FTP test rides.FTP stands for Functional Threshold Power, which is commonly defined as the highest average power you can sustain for an hour, measured in watts. FTP is often used to determine training zones and to measure improvement.

Here at SPYN, we take training seriously. Besides being a great way to break a sweat, SPYN is a fantastic way to train for outdoor sports like cycling (obviously) and running. If you were to do a 20-minute test today, you will probably start out too hard and see your wattage number gradually fade — even if the effort feels the same, start to finish. This shows why it’s helpful to have a power meter and stable indoor conditions to quantify your power production instead of just relying on feel. The more you ride with a power meter, the more you will understand your abilities. Starting a 20-minute climb? Let your buddies blow themselves up going hard for the first couple of minutes while you carefully meter out your effort, riding at your FTP.

How do you know if you’re getting fitter and faster? Because you beat your training buddy up a hill? Or because you better your time at your local time trial? These are useful, but not exactly scientific. Your buddy could have been hungover and the time trial might have had a fast tailwind. Measuring your FTP is like standing on a bathroom scale — that number don't lie!Join us for our FTP rides to see where you are and then when we do the test again in a month or so, you’ll be able to see how much stronger you’ve gotten and how much more capable you are!
